Athens: Thermal Spa & Poseidon's Temple Private Odyssey

My daughter and I had a great experience with Theo, our tour guide, on this lovely day tour. Theo picked us up at our hotel in Athens and we began the drive to Lake Vouligameni. Theo took us on a very scenic drive along the coastal highway. We saw some very beautiful beaches and marinas. Theo pointed out the new developments and showed us the beautiful boats and beaches along the way. We arrived at the lake and viewed it from an upper railing. Very beautiful and the waters looked tempting. Upon the advice of Theo, we decided to go to the Temple of Poseidon first in order to allow for the waters of the lake to benefit from a few hours of midday sun to heat up. We drove a bit more and stopped at Savalas for freddo cappucinos. Very nice place for coffee and the owner gave my daughter a bag of chocolate covered Greek raisins, so amazing. We continued on the Temple of Poseidon. Upon arriving, Theo waited in the parking lot while we bought our tickets and walked up to the temple. It was quite a sight. The temple was magnificent and after about 45 minutes of pictures and walking around, we returned to the parking lot. As we drove, Theo told us the stories associated with the Temple of Poseidon. He is a great storyteller and conversationalist. He also took several scenic turns and showed us the beauty of Greece's beaches several more times. Upon our second arrival at Lake Vouligameni, Theo left us at the entrance and we purchased our tickets and went in. It was not very busy on this Tuesday afternoon, so I found two chairs and waited while my daughter changed into her bathing suit. An attendant came by and left a menu for me. My daughter appeared and went down to the water for a chilly dip (It is early March after all!) She enjoyed the small fishes that gathered around her feet to give her a pedicure. The water is very clear and she swam for about 30 minutes before getting too cold and coming out to sit in the sun. We ordered some fries and beverages and spent about an hour here. After my daughter changed, we returned to the car. The final stop was at the Panorama Restaurant for a late lunch. My daughter and I had sea bass which was delicious and then baklava as a finishing dish. After the wonderful meal, Theo began the drive back to Athens. It was very pleasant day and Theo was a very pleasant guide and driver. Theo ended the ride at our hotel by giving my daughter a box of loukoumi which was a very nice treat! I highly recommend this tour and touring company. Be sure to ask for Theo, he is great.

This was a fantastic experience! My partner and I had Theo as our driver. He was a wonderful host and offered us great recommendations. Theo was very friendly and shared plenty of information about the area and its history. He even stopped to get us coffee and made lunch reservations for us. The lake was beautiful, and we had a perfect swim, even on a chilly March day. The Temple of Poseidon was stunning. It truly was the perfect day.

Theo was our guide and he was excellent! He went out of the way to make the excursion personalized for me and my husband.

George was our personal guide - what a gem! Very knowledgeable, patient, and accommodating. The tour not only includes the Temple of Poseidon, but also the Lake ands very scenic route along the southern coast of Athens, which was breathtaking.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best but we had a fun day, nonetheless. I imagine the lake is a lot of fun on a sunny day. Our driver was very knowledgeable and took us to a perfect lunch spot.

Excellent half day trip, would definitely include the temple of posiedon as its worth seeing. Our guide arrived promptly and was on time for the pick up from the lake. He was really knowledgeable and brought our trip to life. We enjoyed relaxing by the lake, it was a little cold for us to swim in but there were braver people enjoying the water. We chose to sit on the ledge and dabble our legs in the water and watch the fish. The food was lovely too. All in all a great day out.

Absolutely loved the tour. George is very knowledgeable, fun, and interesting. He made a lot of things come alive for us and included both ancient and modern history in his conversation!

Hello, our guide, Mr George was awesome. The best tour guide we had in our vacation in Greece. He is so polite, well educated and cultured. And he was extremely flexible which is a must in a private tour. We loved the temple of Poseidon. What an awesome location for great pictures. Blessings!!!!

Our tour guide George is a local treasure! Intelligent and captivating conversationalist. This tour in particular was a breathe of fresh air as the day prior my friend and I were on a packed tour bus. This time around was just the 2 of us and George. All of the stops were never rushed and we could spend as little or more time at each location. George asked if we liked seafood and took us to an amazing spot where everything was shown to us prior to cooking and super fresh. If we had not been into seafood he had a backup spot. Super accommodating. Be sure to have WhatsApp to communicate with your driver. Rate this an 11 out of 10!
